Introducing Miniblocks — Unify 1.1

Since launching Unify, we’ve been on a mission to make design systems feel less like a chore and more like a power-up. Built by designers, for designers, Unify brings structure without stiffness, flexibility without chaos - and helps teams deliver consistent, beautiful products faster.

With each release, we focus on making the system better for real work, not just ideal scenarios. That means smoother handoffs, fewer design inconsistencies, and more room to experiment.

Today, we’re excited to roll out Unify 1.1 - a release packed with improvements to elevate your design flow:

• Smarter refinements and usability improvements to help everything run just a bit smoother.

• And a powerful new addition we’ve been quietly perfecting: Miniblocks - a flexible new way to build with more control, more creativity, and less friction

Whats wrong with Blocks?

Nothing at all.

Blocks are the foundation of most modern design systems - and for good reason. They’re fast, reliable, and easy to use. In Unify, we took this idea further by offering fully built views like Login pages, Billing sections, Audit Logs, and even complex Rule Builders. These aren’t just components - they’re nearly full screens, thoughtfully designed and ready to drop in.

This is what makes Unify so helpful for teams of all levels. Especially for non-designers, Blocks offer a way to build clean, functional pages in minutes - no guesswork, no stress.

But as our projects evolved, so did our needs.

Not because Blocks were lacking, but because sometimes, having a complete solution leaves less room to play. When you want to design something more custom - something that feels truly your own - you need more control over the little things.

Blocks are what make Unify fast. But Miniblocks?

They make it flexible.

So What Is a Miniblock?

Miniblocks are a new kind of building unit in Unify - one that fills the space between traditional components and full-scale Blocks or templates. Think of them as the "organisms" of Atomic Design: bigger than a button or input, but not as rigid or design-opinionated as a full Page Block.

They’re designed to give experienced designers more control and more creative freedom, without forcing you to start from scratch.

Need to build a complex layout, but the existing Blocks feel too heavy or too structured?

Miniblocks give you just the right amount of foundation - enough to speed things up, but flexible enough to adapt to your unique use case.

They’re especially useful when:

• You want to customize functionality in a specific section of the UI without breaking a bigger Block

• You’re working in Figma and don’t want to waste time piecing together base components

• You’re creating a new layout that doesn't fit neatly into any existing template

• You need consistency, but also space to experiment

Unlike full Blocks, Miniblocks don’t lock you into layout decisions. They’re simple, standalone elements like tag groups, section headers, description modules, or micro-layout patterns - all made to plug in, remix, and reshape however you need.
